Mae's Scotch Shortbread Cookies

Cooking time: About 30 minutes
Prep time: About 10 minutes

Makes: about 20 servings

    

Ingredients

• 2            sticks of butter
• 1/2 cup    granulated sugar
• 2 cups      flour
• 1 t.          colored sugar

    

Directions

1. Blend first 3 ingredients by hand, and push into bottom of 9" square pan. Cut into 1 1/2 inch squares or triangles. Sprinkle top with colored sugar.

2. Bake 30 minutes in 325 deg. oven. Cut cookies again before they cool.

 

This was one of my mother's specialties. Recipe collected Dec. 29, 2000 from her niece, Elaine Erickson, of Leland, Illinois.
