Rosie's Oatmeal Cookies


  

Prep time: About 50 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes

Makes: four dozen cookies

  1. Mix butter and sugar until the butter pieces are less than pea size (15 minutes)
  2. Stir in beaten eggs and molasses to blend.
  3. Add the flour, baking soda and cinnamon and mix well.
  4. Mix in vanilla, oatmeal, raisins, dates and walnuts.
  5. Mix this very thick dough until blended.
  6. Drop dough balls of about 2 T. batter onto two cookie sheets.
  7. Preheat oven to 350 deg. and bake 10 - 12 minutes. Cool for 30 - 60 minutes.

 

Rosie Wilson was the cook/baker at my wife's sorority in Berkeley around 1960. Legend has it that Rosie would give girls a copy of this recipe when they got engaged.
