Congee (jook) - Chinese rice porridge


Cooking time: 40 minutes
Preparation time: 5 minutes

Makes: 2 servings





  1. Heat oil. Saute onions 5 minutes.
  2. Add rice, bouillon, ginger and pork. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  3. Add peas and simmer 5 more minutes.
  4. Serve, topped with chopped green onions.

Also good with chicken. Simmer chicken leg or thigh with rice.
Remove chicken, discard skin and bone, chop meat and return to congee.
